You have the power to give a family a good Christmas!

Christmas! The very word conjures up images of golden turkeys, baked hams, marshmallow yams, mouth-watering pies, and tables full of decadent treats.

Yet, less than two hours away by plane in Baie d'Orange, Haiti, starvation has taken such a devastating toll that the only thriving business belongs to a man and his brother who build small wooden coffins.

"How many families have lost a child to starvation?" Food For The Poor Executive Director Angel Aloma asked a group of local women. Silence... sad eyes... hands slowly rising... one, after another, after another.

For these poor mothers, a good Christmas would be having enough rice and beans so that their children could enjoy at least one meal each day. A good Christmas would be having safe and clean drinking water so that their children don't get sick and suffer. A good Christmas would be the ability to sleep peacefully at night, without the piercing screams of hunger and the worry of what tragedy the dawn might bring.

You have the power to give families like these a good Christmas! Your caring, loving gift will let them know that God has not forgotten them. And now, thanks to a group of generous donors, any gifts we receive by Dec. 31 (up to $500,000) will be matched, dollar-for-dollar! If we are able to reach this goal, we will be able to provide 20 million meals to the poorest of the poor.

Please make your year-end gift today at www.foodforthepoor.org/goodchristmas.
